Localization World Berlin
Building on the success of ten previous conferences, Localization World came to Berlin on 9-11 June 2008. People from all over the world and from a wide range of companies attended for the conference.

All conference sessions took place at the Hotel Maritim proArte.

Conference Theme: Innovating Localization Business Models
The special focus of Localization World Berlin was the localization business model. Buying and selling translation are still done on the basis of word counts. Word rates are adjusted regularly, but the business model has not changed since the early days of the translation market. According to a recent market survey by TAUS, close to 65% of the respondents believe that this volume-based pricing model is out of date. It undermines the objectives of efficiency improvement, service innovation and quality optimization. They think it is time for the translation industry to establish a new business model.

As in all Localization World conferences, the program covered a wide range of issues in the world of translation and localization in addition to the conference theme. With three concurrent tracks, the program was filled with information and discussions about the localization business model, with case studies from a wide range of applications.

Who should attend:
Conference sessions are geared towards professionals seeking to learn about new tools, methods and business practices in the areas of localization and internationalization. Networking and mutual problem discussion opportunities will abound at the social gatherings, meals and break periods. Exhibitors will be present to provide information about their products and services to all levels of attendees.

Why attend:

The Localization World program followed the precedent set in previous conferences, offering a variety of high-caliber presentations and panel discussions strong on content and short on sales pitches.
