Synopsis: Building on the success and experience from 13 previous conferences, this round table will explore best practices specifically for the life science sector. Clients from Medtronic, Zimmer, Siemens Healthcare and St. Jude Medical will present and share their thoughts and experience on benchmarking, impact of GS1 bar coding, creative outsourcing, and translatability, quality and terminology. A key part of the round table is the strength of the break-out sessions and their subsequent presentations and discussions.

As far as translation and localization are concerned, the life sciences sector is different from any other type of industry because of its very specific set of requirements. Regulations are constantly changing, and premium is placed on quality above everything else.

For our next Life Sciences preconference day at Localization World in Berlin on June 7, 2010, we are delighted to offer you the Life Sciences Business Best Practices Round Table — a diverse program, covering the challenges of medical device localization.

The 2010 Berlin round table will cover the different aspects of the particular set of requirements as well as the challenges that these requirements create. Four-to-five clients from Medtronic, Zimmer, Siemens Healthcare and St. Jude Medical will present and share their thoughts and experience around:

  • Benchmarking in Life Sciences Localization and Business Decisions to Localize Selectively in a Cost-conscious Environment. Topics include but are not restricted to the average localization costs and turn-around times for life sciences companies as opposed to non-life sciences companies, insourcing versus outsourcing. Do we make informed choices? Do we expand to certain markets and not others?
  • Impact of GS1 Bar Coding on Medical Products Clients
  • Creative Outsourcing. Are vendors adapting their business model to accommodate new requests from client? What types of outsourcing works well and what types do not? Why?
  • Translatability, Quality and Terminology in Life Sciences. From source to target: best practices

The Life Sciences Round Table is an all-day event. We welcome both clients and life sciences vendors. However, vendor participation will be limited and subject to screening. If you, as a vendor, would like to participate, please send an mail to clio@localizationinstitute.com and Clio Schils will contact you shortly.
