The first keynote speaker is an author. Will his book be available?
Yes! A limited supply of Go Mobile: Location-Based Marketing, Apps, Mobile Optimized Ad Campaigns, 2D Codes and Other Mobile Strategies to Grow Your Business will be available for purchase after Jamie Turner's speech, and he will be there to sign them. Speaking of books, Nataly Kelly will also be on hand to sign your purchased copy of Found in Translation: How Language Shapes Our Lives and Transforms the World by Nataly and Jost Zetzsche.
What if I need a visa to come to the conference?
Please send us an e-mail and we will help you with an invitation letter.
How do I get to the conference?
If you plan to fly, you should arrive at the Seattle Tacoma airport. There is a new light rail service from the airport to downtown Seattle. The closest stop to Bell Harbor is the Westlake Station (.6 mile away)
I am a presenter. Are we meeting?
The speakers are invited to a meeting and reception on Wednesday, October 17, from 6:00-6:00 pm, in the Sound Room at the Bell Harbor International Conference Center. This brief meeting will be a chance to meet other speakers and presenters in the program, to transfer a copy of your presentation to the organizers and to be made aware how much the staff of Localization World appreciates your efforts. We do!
What are the details on the opening reception?
The opening night reception (Wednesday, October 17, 2012, 7:00-10:00 PM) is open to all attendees. This will be at the Maritime Event Center, adjacent to the Bell Harbor Conference Center. This is a reception only, not a dinner. Please note that all attendees are required to wear their badges for the reception. Badges will be available at the reception for attendees who have not previously picked theirs up.
What are the conference hours?
On Wednesday, the preconference day, the conference registration opens at 8:00 with sessions beginning at 9:00.
On Thursday, day one of the main conference, registration opens at 7:30 and the opening is at 8:30. Sessions will continue until 5:30.
On Friday, the first session begins at 9:00. Sessions will continue until approximately 5:30.
Where do I pick up my conference badge?
You may pick up your badge and conference materials at the conference registration desk at the Bell Harbor Conference Center. If you are in town on Wednesday but have not registered for the preconference sessions, you are welcome to come by the conference desk and pick up your materials. Note that if you attend the opening reception, you may also pick up your badge there, but your conference materials will be at Bell Harbor on Thursday. Your conference badge must be worn at all times at the conference and at the networking events.
There really are prizes at the conference?
Yes! There will be prizes at the end of the main conference. To be eligible to win, you must enter your name at participating exhibition booths and be present at the prize session.
What are the details on the dinner?
The dinner (6:00-11:00 PM, Thursday, October 18) will be at the Columbia Tower Club (701 Fifth Avenue, 74th floor). Advance ticket purchase is required. More details are available online. Shuttle service from and to Bell Harbor will be provided.
What food will be provided at the conference?
Lunch will be provided Wednesday for full day or most morning attendees. Your registration e-mail indicates if you have lunch included in your registration for the preconference day. Wednesday's lunch tickets may also be purchased. If you would like to buy yours in advance to avoid the rush, contact Bernie Nova to find out how.
On Thursday and Friday, lunch will be provided for all attendees. There will be light snacks during some of the breaks of the conference. The Wednesday opening reception will have some appetizers, but it is not intended as a dinner. The dinner Thursday night will be a full meal. Advance purchase of dinner tickets ($75) is required.
Can I have copies of the presentations?
All attendees will have access to the presentations from the conference. These will be available online after the conference. All attendees will receive e-mail notifications with access information when the presentations are available.
What type of clothing is acceptable?
The conference does not have a dress code per se. There is usually a mix of formalities and styles present. Some people will be in suits and others in slacks with shirts, sweaters. Comfortable shoes are recommended.
What is the Pathable Network?
The Pathable Network is a way for you to connect with people in the industry who have the same interests as you. There is no charge for membership. You are automatically signed up as an attendee of the conference. You may then update your profile with what information you want visible to other attendees. Your e-mail address is never divulged. This is also a great tool to plan your conference experience, set up your own schedule and have it loaded on your calendar. The mobile version of the site is particularly useful.
What is the Twitter hashtag for the conference?
#locworld
What is the preconference day?
Wednesday, October 17, is the preconference day of the conference. The sessions on this day are full or half-day sessions. You must register and pay for specific sessions on this day. This is different from the main conference, where you can move from session to session as you choose if you have registered for the conference.
