Peter Williamson
Peter Williamson is Professor of International Management and Asian Business at the INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France, and Singapore. He was formerly Dean of MBA Programmes at London Business School and Visiting Professor of Global Strategy and Management at Harvard Business School. He holds a Ph.D in Business Economics from Harvard University.

Williamson's research and publications span globalization, strategy innovation, joint ventures and alliances, and competitive dynamics. His books include Winning in Asia: Strategies of the New Millennium; From Global to Metanational: How Companies Win in the Knowledge Economy (2001), with Yves Doz and J. Santos; The Economics of Financial Markets (1995); Managing the Global Frontier (1994); and The Strategy Handbook (1992). Williamson has acted as consultant on business strategy, alliances and international expansion to numerous multinational companies in Asia/Pacific, Europe and North America. He also serves as a non-executive director of several listed companies.

Graham Valentine
Graham Valentine is co-founder of Armarda International Inc., and is chief executive officer and the executive director of the Armarda Group. At the International University in Geneva, Switzerland, Valentine was a professor of international business, and government and business. He has held positions in sales and general management at a national, European and worldwide level with the Hewlett-Packard Company.

Valentine has successfully developed and managed businesses in the UK, Europe, Asia-Pacific and North and South America, and developed many distribution channels for a wide range of high technology products and services. He is the Creator and Director of the International Management Challenge, an acclaimed senior management development program sponsored by Hewlett-Packard and Raleigh International. He founded the HP UK Sales Training School. Valentine is currently on the advisory boards of Telemis S.A. and IR Microsystems S.A., and holds an MBA from IMD Switzerland.

Jeff Allen has 15 years of experience on business, industrial, academic and government-sponsored projects in natural language processing, technical writing, controlled language authoring software, MT and TM translation software, documentation workflow tools, business intelligence performance management tools, datawarehousing, telecommunications software, speech technologies, OCR and localization. He has been on the MultiLingual Computing and Technology magazine Editorial Advisory Board for the past three years. He is currently a Telecom Software Program Manager at Mycom International, and has previously held positions at Softissimo (MT integrator), the Evaluation and Language resources Distribution Agency (ELDA), the Center for Machine Translation/Carnegie Mellon University, and on the Caterpillar, Inc. CL/MT project, as well as having taught for several years at universities in Europe and in the USA.

Allsop, Ingrid
Ingrid Allsop is localization project manager at WRQ. She has been involved in the localization industry on the client side for over ten years and has been a freelance translator for two years. Her experience in the field covers the breadth and depth of this field, from translation, technical localization tasks, and project management to localization vendor management.

Andersson, Anders
Anders Andersson is responsible for terminology and translation projects at Volvo Parts Corporation. Anders has been with Volvo Truck and Volvo Parts companies since 1973 and has a background within quality, design, marketing and aftermarket service operations. For the last four years, Andersson has been chair of the Volvo Namnlex committee, serving the Volvo companies with approved terminology. He serves the SAE J2450 committee as chairman for the European partners.

Andriesen, Simon
Simon Andriesen is managing director of MediLingua which specializes in the translation of medical technology, medical, pharmaceutical, clinical and health-related information. He holds a master's degree in history from the University of Leiden and cofounded INK International, the first software localization firm in Europe in 1980. After selling INK to an American group in 1992, he lived in the United States to support the integration. The company is now known as Lionbridge Technologies, Inc. In 1995, he returned to The Netherlands to set up MediLingua.

Bengtsson, Teddy
Teddy Bengtsson is CEO and founding partner of Idea Factory Languages (IFL), a full-service localization vendor in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He brings over 15 years of localization experience from the client side to his new role. Before starting IFL in 2003, Teddy held the position of director of vendor and language services at Oracle Corporation and previously had management roles with Microsoft Corporation and Aldus Europe Limited.

Blaschke, Claudia
Claudia Blaschke is senior sales engineer for TRADOS GmbH. She studied French and political science at the University of Stuttgart. Blaschke joined TRADOS in 2000 and since 2001 has been responsible for presales consulting.

Bredenkamp, Andrew
Dr. Andrew Bredenkamp, CEO of acrolinx GmbH, has over 15 years' experience as a technical consultant in practical applications of language technology, especially in content production and knowledge management. Until starting acrolinx at the beginning of 2002, Bredenkamp was head of the Technology Transfer Centre at the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) Language Technology Lab. He has initiated and led projects with globally active customers in the telecommunications, banking, engineering and software sectors.

Cremers, Lou
Lou Cremers gained a BA in English and an MA in computational linguistics from the University of Nijmegen. As a researcher for Océ Technologies, he worked on a parsing system, grammar correction system, full text indexing and retrieval and finally, a prototype MT system (English-German) for technical documentation. He was also involved in ESPRIT and SPIN (national) projects. In 1995, Cremers started translation services at Océ's International Training Centre, a department responsible for automating translation of Océ's documentation into 17 languages using a combination of commercial and customized components for MT, TM and workflow. The department was also actively involved in the introduction of controlled English and an XML based CMS to improve efficiency of the document creation process.

Crisp, Peter
After completing a BA at Thames Valley University in London, Peter Crisp spent three years teaching English and translating in Bonn, Paris and Berlin. He earned an MA in Translation Studies at Salford University, United Kingdom, he started work in the translation department at Volkswagen AG where he is responsible for a broad range of translation topics, terminology and project management.

Danielsen, Joergen
Joergen Danielsen is managing director, Lionbridge Technologies Deutschland GmbH. In 1983, he founded a translation/localization company which served customers in Germany (Siemens, SAP, Thyssen), Europe (Olivetti), and beyond (Microsoft, Panasonic); in the automotive sector, the company served Volkswagen, Audi, Ferrari, IVECO and Pegaso. He sold the company to INTL.com in 1998 and joined Lionbridge in 2000 where he has worked for two years in the company's headquarters being responsible for the application of technology, in particular in the eSupport sector.

De Sutter, Nathalie
Nathalie De Sutter holds a masters degree in Indology from the University of Ghent and later studied business communication in Antwerp. She started her career as a language specialist at Lernout & Hauspie Speech Products (LHSP, currently Scansoft), where she worked on the development of a text-to-speech system for Hindi and Urdu. After leaving L&H, De Sutter worked as a technical writer for a short period, and then became a localization project manager at Ycomm Europe NV. Besides her strong focus on achieving an integrated quality approach towards the entire documentation lifecycle, she supports the Ycomm Management in building marketing strategies for the translation department of Ycomm Europe.

Engel, Jonathan
Jonathan Engel, a specialist in information architecture and content management, is passionate in employing computer technology and software to make information production and delivery more efficient. An experienced journalist and project manager, Engel spent most of his 25-year career at Reuters. He left Reuters early in 2003 to set up InfoArk Limited, his own consulting business. Recent projects include two comprehensive taxonomies expected to become industry standards. Engel also revamped the national content categories for UK local governments.

Elsen, Harald
Harald Elsen is co-founder, Managing Director and COO at Delta International. He has a degree in computational linguistics and nine years of experience in the translation and software localization business. From 1996 until 1998 Elsen was responsible for quality assurance, process optimization, and the design, evaluation and introduction of new technologies at Translingua (later L&H Deutschland GmbH).

Geller, Inna
As translation manager during the last 12 years in Global Business Solutions at Medtronic, Inna Geller oversees the adaptation of sales and marketing, regulatory and corporate communications in a variety of languages for international product launches in Europe, Latin America, Canada and Asia. Geller was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, and has been calling Minneapolis her home for the last twenty years.

Graham, John Douglas
John Douglas Graham studied French, Greek, Russian and philosophy at Edinburgh University and became qualified in translation and interpreting during military service. In 1973 he become technical translator/interpreter at a large mechanical engineering company in Duisburg, Germany, and was head of Foreign Languages Services there from 1980 until December 31, 1998. Also, he was a part-time lecturer in translation at the University of Duisburg from 1994 to 1998. He is now more or less in retirement. Graham remains active in several translator, interpreter, terminology and technical writing organizations.

Grasmick, Daniel
Daniel Grasmick is development manager for multilingual technology solutions at SAP AG in Germany. He has a 20-year background in translation and language technology tools. Grasmick's group provides technical and linguistic support for SAP's proprietary and commercial tools.

Groeneveld, Erik
Erik Groeneveld is director of localization of Network Associates, Inc. He has held the localization management position for the last eight years.

Halder, Armin
Armin Halder joined FreeMarkets in March 2002 as regional localization coordinator. In his current role as localization project manager, Halder manages complex software and marketing localization projects. He coordinates a worldwide network of translation reviewers and language review boards and supervises the creation of technical glossaries for each localized language.

Hein, Anna Sågvall
Anna Sågvall Hein is a professor of computational linguistics and the dean of the faculty of languages at Uppsala University (UU). Her current research interests focus on machine translation, controlled language and language checking. She is the initiator of a four-year undergraduate training program in Language Engineering at UU.

Helbich, Carl
Carl Helbich is business development manager for AAA Language Services, Inc., where his primary focus is identifying publishing solutions that improve the authoring, translation and composition of technical documents.

Herrmann, Achim
Achim Herrmann is one of the founders and managing director of PASS Engineering, Bonn, Germany. He is responsible for administration and is head of the PASSOLO support team. Herzog, Regine
Regine Herzog holds a degree in applied linguistics and translation studies from Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz/Germersheim, Germany. Since 1996, she has worked for the software industry in the areas of Web site design, translation and user training. During the last four years, her main focus has been on technical documentation, terminology research and software localization. She is an information developer at Propack Data.

Heuberger, Andres
Andres Heuberger is president and founder of ForeignExchange Translations, which provides multilingual compliance solutions to the device and diagnostics industries. In the translation industry since 1991, Heuberger manages ForeignExchange's major accounts, implements production systems and technology strategy, and oversees the company's ISO 900x certification efforts. He regularly writes for European Medical Device Manufacturing, IVD Technology, MX, and Software Business and serves on the editorial board of MultiLingual Computing & Technology.

Höge, Monika
Dr. Monika Höge is sales director at docConsult GmbH. She has more than 15 years of experience in the area of computer-aided translation. She is a leader of software evaluation groups in EU language engineering projects and a member of the EAGLES Evaluation Group. She was involved in setting up a worldwide terminology database at DaimlerChrysler. As key account manager, she was the project leader for introducing TRADOS terminology and translation memory technology in the German government.

Hunt, Motoko
Motoko Hunt is a Japanese SEM Consultant with AJPR. She has worked with companies from around the world to help them enter the Japanese market using the Internet. She also has given SEO/SEM seminars in Japan, United States, and Europe to promote the concept of SEO/SEM to companies and Web professionals. Prior to establishing AJPR in 1998, she worked as Senior Marketing and Procurement Manager at a Japanese trading firm.

Hunt, William
William Hunt is Global SEM Strategist at Global Strategies International, LLC. He is responsible for assisting companies to use search engine marketing (SEM) to reach customers in overseas markets. Hunt currently spends most of his time helping Fortune 100 companies manage their SEO/SEM programs with a global perspective. He is the coauthor of the forthcoming book "SEO Inc." Driving Search Traffic to Your Enterprise Website, to be published by the IBM Press in October 2004.

Jonckers, Marc
Marc Jonckers founded Jonckers Translation & Engineering (JTE) in 1994. He has been active in localization since 1986. Prior to forming JTE, he developed and managed translation and business services companies in Belgium. In 1999, Jonckers founded LCJ EEIG together with three other European localization companies. He holds a degree from ISTI and an MBA from Solvay Business School (I.A.D.E.)

Kawahara, Masaru
Masaru Kawahara is director of software engineering and manager of the Technical Support Center at TOIN. He has been a software engineer since 1982. Mr. Kawahara has demonstrated his innovative problem solving abilities and success in localization engineering with projects such as XML-based documentation localization and Java-based UI localization with Translation Memory tools. Prior to working with TOIN, he served as Senior Manager of one of Bowne Global Solutions' Project Management Groups. He also was a Senior Systems Engineer on the first machine translation system in Japan.

Kemmann, Michael
Michael Kemmann is managing director for ADAPT, a full-service provider of multilingual localization solutions with specializations in the medical/biotech, and IT/telecomms fields. He has been active in the industry since 1996 as a translator, editor, project manager and localizer. In 1999 he was founding managing director and co-owner and since 2003 has become the sole owner of ADAPT.

Kingscott, Geoffrey
Geoffrey Kingscott is former chairman (1983-2001) of the Praetorius group of translation companies and is now a freelance consultant in multilingual documentation. He was editor of Language Today (1997-1999) and has published numerous articles on translation, particularly translation quality evaluation. He is an external examiner for terminography and technical writing at the University of Surrey.

Kneip, Carsten
Carsten Kneip is a program manager at Cisco System's Enterprise Communication Software Business Unit in Seattle, Washington. He also heads up the localization efforts of the ECS Business Unit's flagship voice server product. He holds a master's degree in mathematics with a minor in computer science and is currently enrolled in a project management certification program at the University of Washington to prepare for the PMP exam.

Korn, Richard
Richard Korn holds a B.A. in psychology and French, and a M.A. in international relations and cross-cultural communication. He began his career in the localization industry at Berlitz Translation Services. Currently, Korn manages the localization team in the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division of St. Jude Medical, a manufacturer of cardiac device technology.

Kroupa, Edith
Edith Kroupa has been working at DaimlerChrysler Language Services in Stuttgart, Germany, since 1987. She is translation manager for service information.

Larsen, Inger
Inger Larsen worked in the localization industry for over 15 years before setting up Larsen G11n Ltd, a specialist recruitment service for the localization industry. Larsen started out as a software localizer; continued with lecturing, project management and account management; and ended up in global sales. Companies she has worked for include IBM, Microsoft, Xerox and L&H in Norway, the United States, Ireland and now the United Kingdom.

Lawlor, Terry
Terry Lawlor is vice president worldwide marketing at SDL International, where he is responsible for marketing strategy and execution worldwide. Prior to SDL, he was EMEA marketing and business development director at SupportSoft. Previously, as marketing director at Informix Software, he successfully opened up new markets in content management and e-commerce. He has held senior management positions in marketing, sales, customer services, and research and development.

Le-Blond, Darja
Darja Le-Blond has nine years of experience as both a translator and project manager within the localization industry. Over the last six years she has worked for Wordbank as a project manager, a project team manager and is currently a strategic account manager for a global client. She has extensive experience managing complex multilingual marcoms localization projects and project teams for Web sites, interactive CDs and off-line media.

Lu, Jimmy
Jimmy Lu holds a master of science in physics from Lund University. He has been responsible for the development of TMS at Teleca since 1999. He has a complete understanding of all the pitfalls that can occur during the localization and translation of menu texts, from a technical as well as a process point of view.

Lüken, Heinz
Heinz Lüken holds a master's degree in mathematics. He joined SAP as developer in the area of R/3 financials in 1988. After a three-year stay with SAP America in Philadelphia, he worked several years in SAP's international development department to develop functional localization for all regions. Last year Lüken became vice president of language services, where he is responsible for the translation of all SAP products.

Marmé, Ursula
Ursula Marmé holds a Ph.D. in Celtic Studies from the University of Bonn. Ten years ago, she accepted a position as project manager that was offered to her by mere chance – and thus accidentally started a career in localization. During the following years, she worked as account manager for Microsoft, IBM, Sun Microsystems, Novell, Corel, and many others. She now owns her own localization company in Bonn, Languages & Localization, and counts some well-known IT accounts among her clients.

McDougall, Ken
Ken McDougall is vice president for strategic business at SDL International. In 1996 he cofounded Wizard Information Systems which, by the time of its sale to USDATA, had become the UK's largest independent reseller of automation systems, with a translation software resale arm and offices in France and The Netherlands. He joined SDL in 2003 from USDATA where in two years as European marketing director he oversaw an 80% growth in European revenues.

Miller, Elizabeth
Elizabeth Miller is currently director of linguistics and vendor management for OmniLingua Inc. She has over 20 years of experience in communications and documentation, including publishing management and language training. She holds an M.A. in Linguistics from the University of Colorado/Boulder. In her present capacity, she is responsible for the recruitment and development of over 600 external vendors.

Müller, Eva
Eva Müller holds a degree in mathematics from the University Fridericiana, Karlsruhe, Germany. Since 1990, she has worked as a technical writer for the software industry and managed documentation and translation projects for network components, working time management systems, command and control systems for Public Safety, and software products for the pharmaceutical industry. During the last four years her main focus has switched to software localization.

Munshi, Sukumar
Sukumar Munshi has been working as a consultant in the field of electronic publishing, SGML/XML application development for several years. For more than three years, his focus has been on providing multilingual solutions to customers.

Ottmann, Angelika
Angelika Ottmann has been owner and general manager of EXACT! GmbH in Mannheim, Germany, since 1989. She holds a degree in translation from the University of Heidelberg, Germany.

Papaioannou, John
John Papaioannou is senior localization manager at Bentley Systems. As such he manages the localization strategy, business performance, localization vendors and process and technology, and is global liaison for localization and internationalization issues. Previously he was a localization project manager at Bentley, responsible for Bentley Systems' European product localization.

Pfetzer, Karin
Karin Pfetzer has worked in localization since 1995. She worked with SDL as a German lead translator and line manager; then for Sage as lead translator and project manager; with K International as production manager. She is currently production manager at Oxford Conversis Ltd. in the United Kingdom.

Radlmayr, Kristin
Kristin Radlmayr has worked for the STAR Group Headquarters in Switzerland since 1998. She has two years of project management experience in translation and localization projects. Since 2000, she has worked in sales consulting for STAR Language Technology and Workflow Solutions.

Reineke, Detlef
Detlef Reineke has been a teacher and researcher at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria/Spain since 1994. He holds a degree in technical translation from the University of Hildesheim, Germany, and a Ph.D. under Professor Dr. Klaus-Dirk Schmitz (data modelling in software localization). Reineke was recently elected general secretary of the German Terminology Society (Deutscher Terminologie Tag e.V.).

Reinke, Uwe
Uwe Reinke is a research assistant at Saarland University (Saarbrücken, Germany) involved in teaching IT and CAT to translators and interpreters. He has received a Ph.D. for a dissertation on translation memories. Apart from his university job, Reinke has been working as a freelance translator and localizer for over ten years.

Reynolds, Peter
Peter Reynolds works for Bowne Global Solutions (BGS) in its Dublin office as manager of the software development team. He has been part of the teams working on XLIFF and Web services for translation since they started and is secretary of the XLIFF Oasis technical committee and chair of the translation Web services Oasis technical committee. He has an MBA from the Open University.

Sachse, Florian
Florian Sachse is managing director of PASS Engineering GmbH. He is the lead developer of PASSOLO and a member of the XLIFF TC, currently at Observer Level.

Salmenius, Jaakko
Jaakko Salmenius has extensive experience in developing localization technologies for desktop, Internet and wireless environments. He is the CTO of Multilizer.

Schildhauer, Erich
Erich Schildhauer has 15 years of experience in the field of software documentation and localization as a writer, translator and project manager. He now works as an independent consultant and writer, providing technical communication services to software enterprises and facilitating the integration and adaptation of language and communication technologies.

Sirena, Don
Don Sirena is the business manager responsible for language translation within GM Service and Parts Operations North America. He has been with GM since 1986 and has primarily been involved in business operations and vendor management. His current assignment includes the continuous improvement of language translation relative to customer satisfaction and the regional consolidation of all GM North American language translation business activities.

Snaselova, Vera
Vera Snaselova has worked for Moravia Worldwide since 1993, initially as a Czech-English freelance translator and proofreader. She has held a number of key positions at Moravia, including translator, proofreader, language lead, project manager, account manager, and, most recently, localization production unit manager. In her current role, Snaselova manages teams of Moravia project managers, localization leads, language leads and Moravia's DTP department.

Tivig, Gerhard
Gerhard is senior development engineer at the Philips Medical Systems Division in Boeblingen, Germany. He is project leader for application software development for patient monitors. Tivig is also responsible in research and development for all NLS and localization-related aspects for the IntelliVue Patient Monitor family and has more than ten years of experience in the localization of patient monitors.

Trotter, Paul
Paul Trotter is the founder and CEO of AuthorIT Software Corporation. Paul is the architect of AuthorIT and has been involved with localization and content management for over 10 years.

Van der Meer, Jaap
Jaap van der Meer, cofounder and partner of Cross Language, started his first translation company in The Netherlands in 1980 which became a pioneer in software localization and a model to many start-ups in the emerging localization industry. In 1987 he published the first desktop translation memory software; cofounded the SAE TopTec Multilingual Communications Conference for the automotive industry; and was president and CEO of ALPNET.

Wachowius, Ulrich
Ulrich Wachowius has more than 15 years of experience in the localization industry. He serves the European SAE J2450 committee as Secretary to the Chairman. For the German professional association for technical communication tekom, Ulrich is working as an expert and consultant for terminology management. At SDL Multilingual Services in Stuttgart, Germany, as senior business manager he concentrates on consulting and business development for IT and automotive customers.

Wawrzyniak, Leszek
Leszek Alfons Wawrzyniak, an independent software consultant in the areas of electronic commerce, XML/SGML and database-driven applications, has been involved in the design and development of complex multilingual XML/SGML and database-driven industrial applications since the beginning of SGML. Previous work includes multilingual SGML/XML authoring systems for Ford Motor Company, Volkswagen, Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor Cars through Digital Equipment Corporation, Computer Sciences Corporation, Ploenzke and Advanced Commerce.

Wei, James
Dr. James Wei is the president of E-C Translation Ltd. and E-C Marketing & Consulting Co., Ltd. He has been working in translation and localization for eight years and has extensive experiences in helping small to medium-sized foreign enterprises to enter the China market.

Wilms van Kersbergen, Peter
Peter Wilms van Kersbergen worked for ten years in translation education and development before crossing the border to translation production. For the past nine years he worked at Medtronic for the European translation team, where he managed software localization projects before moving on to translation tools and process development. Van Kersbergen worked as a full-time translation analyst for the Medtronic Advanced Publishing System team.

Woyde, Rick
Rick Woyde joined Detroit Translation Bureau (DTB) in 1981 and has worked in every department, from bookkeeping to production to sales to management. In January 1999, Woyde was promoted to president and CEO. He has set DTB on a path to become an industry influencer in the translation of automotive and commercial vehicle information by being a participant in the development of worldwide translation standards. Woyde is chairperson of the Society of Automotive Engineers' J-2450 Translation Quality Metric committee.

Zerfass, Angelika
Angelika Zerfass holds a degree in translation (Chinese/Japanese) from the University of Bonn. She worked at the Japanese Embassy in Bonn, Germany, before joining TRADOS in 1997. She was responsible for the training and support for Microsoft projects using TRADOS tools (1998 in Japan, 1999 in the United States). Since 2000, she has worked freelance as a trainer and consultant for translation tools and related processes.
