The conference will be held at the Maritim proArte. The negotiated rates for the conference are:
Single: €157,00/night, including breakfast and VAT
Double: €190,00/night, including breakfast and VAT

These rates expired on 27 April 2008, but the hotel may be able to extend this special rate for conference attendees based upon availability and capacity.

Once we made the decision to return to Berlin for the 2008 European Localization World, we set out to find a venue that would allow us to better integrate the conference and the exhibit.

The Maritim proArte served as one of two elite hotels that catered to high government officials and visiting dignitaries during the German Democratic Republic period (aka East Germany). It then operated under the name Metropol. It is situated in central Berlin a few blocks from the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, the river Spree, and down the street from the former Checkpoint Charlie, just to mention a few landmarks.

After the Berlin Wall came down, the hotel was acquired by the West-German Maritim chain of business and conference hotels and renovated at considerable expense. It sports a modern style with lots of light wood and chrome. Works of original modern art – some quite large – are used throughout the hotel.

This is a historic hotel, with modern features to make for a pleasant conference experience. The guest rooms are nicely appointed, and the rate we negotiated for our attendees includes breakfast.
