One of the reasons that people attend Localization World is for the networking opportunities. And they are not disappointed! Besides the exhibit hall with areas for impromptu meetings, ample time between sessions and at lunches, the conference offers two special occasions to encourage attendees to relax and get to know each other.
Opening reception
Monday, 9 June 2008
19.00-21.00
Sponsored by Logrus Localization Alliance: Idea Factory Languages, Inc., Logrus, Orco, S.A., Translation From To Ltd. and text & form.
The opening reception for Localization World is a great way to make initial contacts for the conference. The reception is open to all attendees.
In an effort to reduce our carbon footprint, we looked for venues for our evening events that are in close proximity to the conference hotel. We are happy to announce that we have succeeded in our goal: the Kalkscheune is a mere 0.8 km (0.5 miles) from the conference location, the Hotel Maritim proArte.
Please join us in walking to the Kalkscheune. Just follow Friedrichstrasse past the Spree and take a right after the Friedrichstadt Palast (Palace) onto the Johannisstrasse. The Kalkscheune is located at Johannisstrasse 2 and will be on your right. Here is a printable map.
Since the reception is so close to the conference hotel, it will be easy for latecomers to still attend. Light snacks and refreshments will be served.
This is always a fun time and an opportunity to greet old friends and meet new ones. We hope to see you there!
Dinner
Tuesday, 10 June 2008
19.00-23.00
Sponsored by Moravia Worldwide
After such great feedback about the casual nature of last year’s event, we have decided to go casual again this year.
The Café am neuen See is located on the banks of a lake in the middle of the famous Tiergarten park. Join us for a fun evening of casual barbecue-style food under beautiful chestnut trees. In the case of inclement weather, we will seek the shelter of a tent. So, dress casually and come ready for a good time and great networking!
Important logistical information:
In line with our goal to make Localization World Berlin as environmentally friendly as possible, hydrogen busses will begin leaving the Maritim proArte for the Café am neuen See at 18.30. The ride will take 10 to 15 minutes, depending on traffic. The first bus to return at the end of the evening leaves the Café am neuen See at 22.00. In case you'd like to return early or separately, information on public transportation options for the return trip will be handed out. |
